Install Hammer Core Services

HCS is included with Hammer. Choose the SAP system, confirm the installation, and let Hammer handle the rest.

Before you start

  • Hammer 1.0 or newer.
  • An SAP system running ABAP Platform 2023 or newer. HCS requires SAP_BASIS 758 or newer.
  • A user that can create development objects and run background jobs in the SAP system.
Using an older SAP system?Keep using Hammer with its ADT connection. Hammer does not offer HCS installation when the SAP system is unsupported.

Install HCS

    Connect to the SAP system

    Open Hammer and connect to the SAP system where you want to install HCS.

    Open the HCS installer

    Choose Systems → Manage Systems…. Under SAP Systems, select the connected system. In its HCS section, choose Install HCS.

    Install HCS

    Review the short summary. If Hammer lists open work, finish or save it, then choose Continue. Keep Hammer open while it installs HCS and reconnects to the SAP system.

Check the result

Hammer confirms the installation with Hammer Core Services is ready. Back in Manage Systems, the HCS section shows the installed and available versions.

That is all.

Hammer will use HCS for this connection. No manual SICF setup or archive upload is required.

Already have HCS?

Hammer checks the installed release automatically. If an upgrade or repair is available, the HCS section shows the appropriate action and uses the same guided process.
