Meter is an independent, unofficial companion for Codex. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by OpenAI.

What Meter processes

When you connect an OpenAI account, Meter processes the authorization credentials, account or workspace identity, account email, plan information when available, current Codex usage limits, and reset timing needed to provide the app. Meter also creates local usage history, reset-notification preferences, and the limited presentation data needed by widgets on your device.

Where data goes

Meter sends authentication and account context only to OpenAI’s authentication and Codex usage services when you sign in or Meter refreshes your usage. Meter does not operate a server and does not send this information to the developer.

Credentials are stored in Apple Keychain on your device and are not available to Meter’s widget extension. Account state, history, preferences, and provider identity remain in the app’s private on-device storage. The shared widget container contains stable local identifiers, the account email or custom label shown to you, plan information when available, usage and freshness data, and removed-account markers needed to render and configure widgets. It contains no credentials, provider identity, or usage history.

Meter has no analytics, advertising, tracking, telemetry, or third-party crash-reporting SDK. It does not sell data and does not send support diagnostics automatically.

Notifications and background refresh

Reset notifications are local and optional. Meter requests notification permission only after you enable a notification for a specific account and limit. After a successful refresh, Meter sends a notification only when the remaining usage has increased since the previous successful update. This also covers a manual or banked reset without relying on a predicted time. iOS controls background refresh and delivery, so detection may be delayed. The notification identifies the account by its email or custom label and never contains credentials or provider identity.

Retention and deletion

Local usage history begins when you connect an account. Removing an account deletes its credentials, usage data, history, refresh state, reset-notification preferences, and pending reset notifications. Meter retains only the stable local widget identity, the email or custom label previously shown to you, and the removal time so an existing widget can say that its configured account is unavailable rather than switching to another account.

If you want credentials explicitly deleted before uninstalling Meter, remove each connected account in Meter first. iOS controls what happens to Keychain items when an app is uninstalled, and Meter does not receive an uninstall callback that could perform that cleanup itself.

Provider dependency

OpenAI processes data under its own Privacy Policy. Meter’s Codex connection relies on current provider behavior that is not published as a stable third-party API and may require a future app update.

Website access

The hosting provider may process standard server log data such as an IP address, requested URL, timestamp, referrer, and user agent to operate and secure the website. This page has no marketing analytics or advertising trackers.
